该剧将山乡教书先生张九如置于近代中国历史大变迁的时代洪流中，实现了一个中国近代文人精神气节的完美收官，完成了“为教书先生树碑立传”的创作初衷，是戏曲舞台上践行“创造性转化、创新性发展”的成功之作。上承剧种精华，下启创新理念，是“省花路子”喜剧风格又一新的尝试。秉承“守正创新”的音乐创作理念，延续“省花路子”了雅俗共赏的音乐特质。在舞美设计方面，着重通过文字的拆分与重构去营造空灵的写意风格。
The play places Zhang Jiuru, a teacher in a mountain township, in the torrent of the times of the great changes in modern Chinese history, realizing the perfect end of the spiritual temperament of a modern Chinese literati, completing the original intention of “building a monument for Mr. Teaching”, and is a successful work of practicing “creative transformation and innovative development” on the opera stage. Inheriting the essence of drama and initiating innovative ideas on the lower side is another new attempt of the comedy style of “Hunan Huagu Province Opera Theater’s genre”. Adhering to the music creation concept of “integrity and innovation”, it continues the musical characteristics of “Hunan Huagu Province Opera Theater’s genre” that are appreciated by both elegant and common people. In terms of stage design, it focuses on creating an ethereal freehand style through the splitting and reconstruction of words.
故事梗概：
《夫子正传》讲述书生张九如屡试不第仍踌躇满志，就在他自信今科赴试势在必得之时，朝廷宣布取消科举的消息传来。梦想幻灭的他为了生存，只得勉为其难开办新学。他努力地顺应时变，但不断变化的时局却总是让他措手不及，屡屡陷入尴尬的生存困境难以自拔。作为一个新时代的旧人，他自觉不自觉地坚守着被世人抛弃了的价值观，常常以放弃尊严的方式维护着自己的尊严与做人的底线。当国难临头之际，他守定以卵击石的信念，义无反顾地选择了属于他的抗争，令人为之唏嘘的同时不禁对他肃然起敬。
