Repin was born in Siberia in 1971. At only eleven he won the gold medal in all age categories in the Wienawski Competition and gave his recital debuts in Moscow and St Petersburg. In 1986 at fifteen he made his debut in Carnegie Hall. Two years later Vadim Repin was the youngest ever winner of the most prestigious and demanding violin competition in the world, the Reine Elisabeth Concours. Since then he has appeared with the world’s greatest orchestras under the baton of today’s leading conductors.
Vadim Repin has been a frequent guest at festivals such as the Hollywood Bowl and Tanglewood. He has performed with the greatest orchestras in the world on numerous occasions, including the Berlin Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Symphony, Israel Philharmonic, London Symphony, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, La Scala Opera Orchestra, China Philharmonic Orchestra, etc. Recent performance highlights have included galas with Mstislav Rostropovich to celebrate the centenary of the London Symphony Orchestra and the concerts with the Berlin Philharmonic and Jansons.
Vadim Repin recorded the great Russian violin concertos by Shostakovich, Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky for Warner Classics. He has also collaborated with DG many times to record violin repertoire albums, including Argerich, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Muti, Mischamyski and Lang Lang and other famous artists. In 2008, Repin and conductor Seiji Ozawa boarded the stage of the NCPA New Year’s Concert together, witnessing the grand opening of the NCPA.In 2010 he was awarded the highest French distinction, the Victoire d’Honneur and the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres for his services to music. In April 2014 he became founder and Artistic Director of the first Transsiberian Arts Festival, also in this year, he was appointed Honorary Professor of the Central Conservatory of Music and in 2015 the Shanghai Conservatory also awarded him this title.

Svetlana Smolina has performed with orchestras and given recitals worldwide – with the Mariinsky Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Orchestre National de France, Salzburg Festival at Mozarteum, Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Ravinia Rising Stars in Chicago, White Nights in Saint Petersburg, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Mikkeli Festival Finland, Ruhr Klavier in Germany, Moscow Easter Festival, Rotterdam Philharmonic with Gergiev, at the Stresa Festival, Hanoi Opera House, London´s Royal Opera Covent Garden, Tchaikovsky Conservatoire Moscow and Rome´s Accademia Santa Cecilia.
Her recordings include a Chopin album for iTunes, Scriabin on Pentatone, with Christopher O’Riley at a live concert in Montana, the Britten concerto from a live concert at Disney Hall in Los Angeles, and broadcasts for NPR, WQXR, BBC, PBS, RAI, Kultura TV and other networks. Her recording with Valery Gergiev of Stravinsky´s Les Noces received an ICMA award.
Since 2014 Svetlana Smolina and Vadim Repin have given recitals at Mr. Repin’s Transsiberian Art Festival in Novosibirsk as well as in Washington DC, London and New York, and chamber music in Norilsk and Samara with Alexander Kniazev and Narek Hakhnazaryan. Vadim and Svetlana also performed in Berlin, in Bogota at Teatro Colon for the Cartagena Festival, at Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, in Bangalore and Mumbai for XXV Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival, at Koerner Hall in Toronto and at Salle Garnier de Monte Carlo for Prince Albert´s Monaco Foundation.
Highlights of Svetlana’s recent performances include a tour to China with Dublin Philharmonic with Derek Gleeson, concerts with Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional Juvenil in Lima, Peru, at Carnegie Hall in NYC, with violinist Lee-Chin Siow in Singapore, in Basel with Charlie Siem, CCK Symphony Hall/Buenos Aires in the “Best Pianists of the 21st Century series”, the festivals at Lake Tahoe, Ushuaia in Argentina, Cremona International Summer Festival with Roberto Cani, in Osaka with Kazuhiro Takagi, Megaron Hall in Athens, and debut recitals in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Svetlana Smolina is a Grand Prix winner of Italy´s Citta Di Senigallia International Piano Concorso and many other competitions. Since 2011 she has directed the piano programmes at the Philadelphia International Music Festival and is on the piano faculty at the London Performing Academy of Music and Cremona International Music Academy.
